This week was exciting and busy- fun run, continuing class work, and drama today. Today's drama class students re-enacted the book "Stone Soup" by Marcia Brown.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving! Please have students just read and record in their reading log. Is your child almost done with the front page?- students should be on the back half by end of November. Students have been practicing adding 2-digits on a numberline and reading non-fiction texts about different animals. Students are comparing and contrasting the parent animals with their offspring and using a connecting word (and, or, but) to join 2 sentences together. Please practice U2W4 spelling words and other strategies on our resource sheet in students' homework binders. We will be taking our test next week.

Hi Families,
I saw how wonderful our students were in teaching an adult how to add 2 2-digit numbers on a numberline. Please continue to practice with your student. It should only be several jumps. For example: If you are adding 30, student can jump by ten (so 3 jumps) to be careful in finding the answer OR student can make a jump of 30 but be sure they landed on the correct number. This is one of our MAJOR math concepts in 2nd grade, so you will see it again. This week: Drama- a mock museum of animals and students collected information about animals on Wednesday. Art class with Mrs. Jones today- we learned how to make pinch pots that will be displayed for Artist in Me Night. IMPORTANT: Monday, Nov. 19 is our FUN RUN. Please have students WEAR covered running shoes, Pomaika'i shirt, shorts, and sunscreen. The school has a water play or Basketball station after running- please tell your child this weekend and have them pick ONE!. If they choose water play, please have them wear their swim clothes under their pomaika'i shirt and shorts so they can cool after right after running. They will ALSO need a plastic bag with a towel inside to dry off and put their wet swim clothes in after event. We will have them change into their dry clothes after and be ready for the school assembly. I am new to Pomaika'i Fun Run and so just to let you know- there is UJam, Fun Run, waterplay/basketball, and school assembly to make announcement of winners (individuals, classes, and school goal). Fun run take most of the first half of the day, and then after lunch, we will continue our normal school day. Have a wonderful weekend and thank you for your support, Mrs. Alisa Hamasaki Keep those bids coming in! The auction will close on Monday, 11/19/18 at 2pm. http://32auctions.com/Pomaikai2018 Share this link with family and friends! |
